Each block can hold upto five knives per side.

With all knives different meights/materials and sizes it is hard to say for sure that your knives will hold securely. Your knives need to be metal and you can check this by using a magnet. While we use the strongest magnets possible and position them close to the surface of the wood to maximise holding strength, we have had on very few occasions where some knives could not be supported. This mainly affects smaller knives that are lower down on the block where the blade is small and the handle is heavy. However overall our blocks have great success holding knives securly.

To attach your knives to the block simply bring one flat side of the knife slowly to the block, as it gets close the magnets will pull the knife into position, your knife is now attached. To remove your knife just pull the knife directly upward and you knife will slide off the block releasing it.

Our blocks are solid wood and do have some weight to them, however when attaching/removing knives it could cause the block to move. To help compensate for this our blocks come with a cork base which helps grip the work surface preventing the block from moving.

We use a tough durable finish for our blocks to help resist wear overtime. However with knives being sharp if attached/removed improperly you could end up scratching your block. When attaching a knife try to slightly angle the blade away from the block so the sharp edge does not make first contact. Please also take care using serrated blades. Some may have teeth that are slightly wider than the body of the knife and these can scratch the block easily.

Please be aware that being wood there is the potential to scratch these blocks if certain knives are used on it. Knives are required to have a bevel on the side that engages with the block. This means the sharp edge does not touch the block and avoids scratching. The image below shows a variety of bevels (the sharp end) that are suitable except for the chisel edge.
